CHS American Indian Education Program

The Cloquet High School Indian Education Program is designed to assist American Indian students in graduating from high school with a quality education and a positive cultural identity. Funding for this program is provided through Title VI of the federal Every Student Succeeds Act and the State of Minnesota Indian Education funding through the Minnesota Department of Education.

The American Indian Education Program was established in 1973 by Cloquet Public Schools along with the Fond du lac Reservation community in response to the 1972 (federal Indian Education Act. This legislation recognizes the need for the equalization of academic standards for all students. The program is implemented under the guidance of the AIE Director and the Local Indian Education Committee.

Tribal enrollment of the student, parent or grandparent qualifies a student for the program services. Signed forms must be on file to qualify for Title VI or JOM services.
