Welcome to National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921.

To participate in NHS at CHS, students are invited to apply if at quarter three you have a 3.5 GPA or higher. Once applications are received they are reviewed by a panel of teachers. Applicants are accepted into NHS based on the student's application, GPA and if they fit NHS' area of excellence. Second year applicants do not have to reapply, however; they must have met the required volunteer hours, maintained their GPA to 3.5 or higher and upheld the area of excellence NHS requires during their first year. Students must also attend CHS in order to be a member.
