Registration Overview

Registering for courses each year is a critical part of the high school experience.  Thoughtful course selection and student performance will determine a student's future opportunities.

Tips to Consider

  • Team Approach - The best approach to a proper schedule is for students, with assistance from their parents and counseling, to carefully select correct choices when they register.

  • Aim High - Select challenging courses in high school to prepare for future educational and career goals.

  • Be Selective - Choose elective courses that challenge learning, support interests, allow for exploration, and pursue vocational goals.

Student Registration Manual

  • Step 1:  Make a plan

  • Step 2:  Spend time reviewing the current registration manual

  • Step 3:  Talk to your parent/guardian about what interests you have

  • Step 4:  Setup a meeting with a counselor to discuss your interests

  • Step 5:  Remember what classes you need to take and the elective credits

  • Step 6:  Come to registration day prepared with your registration sheet filled out and your electronic device

Registration for Current 8th Graders

Registration is an important process. For students who take time to read, plan, and reflect, it can help them formulate a plan for their future career. To prepare for registration, all current 8th grade students should work with their middle school teachers and their families to complete the following steps:

  • Step 1:  Spend time reviewing the current registration manual.

  • Step 2:  Talk to your parent/guardian about what interests you have

  • Step 3:  Attend  the 8th grade meeting and listen to all the information presented

  • Step 4: Parents/Guardians should attend the 8th grade parent's night. This will help parents learn about all the offerings at CHS and help better support their students.

  • Step 5:  Students should come to registration day prepared. They will need to have their registration sheet filled out along with their electronic device.
