Juniors interested in taking the PSAT. The PSAT will be administered on TBA during hours 1-4 in the CHS Media Center. PSAT/NMSQT stands for Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test used to prepare students for taking the SAT. Cost is $15.
The PSAT measures critical reading, math problem-solving, and writing skills. Taking the PSAT gives students an opportunity to become familiar with the test instructions, the format of the test, and the type of questions asked.
The most common reasons for taking the PSAT/NMSQT are to:
- Provide feedback of your strengths and weaknesses on skills necessary for college study
- Compare performance on an admissions test to others applying to college
- Preparation for the SAT
- Receive information from colleges when you check "yes" to Student Search Service
- Juniors taking the PSAT are also eligible for National Merit Scholarship consideration
*Sign-up is available for 11th grade students in the CHS Guidance OfficeMCA
The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments (MCAs) are state tests in mathematics, reading and science.
Cloquet uses the information to improve classroom teaching and learning. Teachers and principals look for areas where students do well so they can reinforce the ways they teach these skills. They also look for areas that need improvement so they can increase instructional time or modify their instruction.
Per State Requirements students in 10th grade will take the Reading and Science MCA’s and students in 11th grade will take the Math MCA’s.
